Finishing up

During my time in this class I have learned about civics and game design. Civics wise I learned a lot about the Independent party and that the are underestimated in their votes and that there are a lot of registered Independents in the US, or at least more than I thought. What I've learned in this class was a lot of action script and drawing in flash. Oh, and blogging I love blogging and I may continue to use this in the future.

Back to Work

I am finally back at school after a three week vacation which was nice! I actually was only supposed to get off about two weeks, but because of snow we had another week off. So, now I'm trying to get back into the flow of things which is kind difficult because I feel so lazy! There is one bit of good news and that is that I finished my presentation a while back and thats what we are working on this week. So until next time if there is one because my class ends this Friday.

What I've learned

Civics wise I have learned a lot about the different views of the political parties like a lot of Moderate Republicans are for a lot of the same things as Democrats such as abortion. Lots of Moderates are pro-choice and think that it should be left up to the mother to decide which is quite different from the Conservatives. In the Conservative views is that abortion is a bad thing, which it is, but they tend to take it to the extreme. I've learned other thing but i can't really think of them off the top of my head, blame it on Mondays. So until next time peace out.

I just finished my presentation, well mostly, There are somethings I can do to make it better which I might work on. We have to present to a guy on Friday and I'm a little nervous but ill be fine. Other than that I don't have anything else to say.

My game is coming along. I've been working on our group presentation for that past week or so and I have most of the slides done I believe. I have a lot of the new debate sites done in the game and I'm going to start working on the questions next week. TGIF!!

Coming Along

Our game is coming along fine so far. I had a little trouble with the button coding but I got it sorted out. I am now trying to work on our scoring system which is represented by a bar graph showing the votes you gain from certain political parties. It is giving me some trouble due to the fact that I don't fully understand how to get the bars to do what I want whenever you answer a question. But, I think I'll be able to figure it out soon.

So far my game has been going very well I had a little trouble with the buttons but I got it hammered out. The Player in my game will learn about the different issues that are discussed in a campaign and how they are answered and how that answer will effect the votes you get. So far i haven't learned much on civics I've mainly been putting together my game and adding lots of buttons.

Civics Game Idea

Our new idea for our civics game is your a candidate running for President of the United States

and of course you have to debate with they other candidates in order to express your views against theirs. When ever you first start out you are against smaller candidates and the issues aren't main topic issues such as abortion, gun control, and health care. The way you win is to keep all the voter from each party happy, and this will be represented by a bar graph that will show the approval of the Democrats, Republicans, and the Independents. If you manage to keep all the voter happy your approval rating with be good and you might get elected president!

Game Idea

My game idea is a game show called What Is Astronomy. In the game the player will be given a small passage to read and a picture of a constellation. After reading the passage the reader will be given 2 questions about the constellation and if they answer them correctly they will win something in the game. The father you get in the game the better the prizes become!

Imagining Your Game

I originally was going to do a game with astronomy and have the player learn about the constellations of the night sky and at which times they appear thought out the year. I also was going to have them learn the mythology be hide the constellation. This also ties in with a another class I am taking this year called Earth and Space. In this class I learn why the the stars are up there and other astronomic studies. But, Mrs Stalnaker is asking me to do a game with Civics so I don't know...

Minigame Project

I found this project was very easy. The main reason was that it told me what to do step by step and the second reason is that I've done most this stuff before so it made it loads easier. I thought the best part was the end product of messing around with the game and coding, but the worse part was having do keep checking to make sure you're doing everything right. I do play games in my free time mostly RPG and Shooter games such as Halo 3, Zelda, Two Worlds, GOW 2, COD5, and Prince of Persia.

So far i have learned a lot. I tend to work more with coding and music then anything. Im better at music because i have a good ear for things. i like working with flash its more fun just to create random things for fun the trying to create something you need.

Adding Interaction

Adding interaction is kind of hard because the coding is weird. I didn't get it until Kevin showed me how to work it. But, it gets simpler after a while i guess. I just know i won't be doing this if we have it in our game =D

I like adding sounds to my animated creations. I have just made stick man get impaled by a object and he is screaming. I like finding and creating various sounds for my group and im sure it will be fun adding it to our game.

Adding animation was fun for me because i got to kill a stick man about 100 times. It's fun just making random things in flash. I'm more of a sound person but i like the animation too so i might help my group with it.

Doing presentations

My group and i did our presentation on our game today. I think it was fun finding out what everyone else's game ideas were. I had roughly knew what everyones game idea were but i didn't know the games were so detailed. But, doing my presentation wasn't that bad i had already done an english presentation so I wasn't nervous.

I think that adding navigation is a little difficult to understand. I don't really get it that much, but I get it enough to know what I'm doing I think. I guess I'll get better at it when i start using it a lot more.

Im not really good at drawing on a computer so my drawing arnt very good but i tried. i though it was kinda fun but i wasnt that happy about my work but its ok for computers so whatever

Paper Prototyping

i thought that paper prototyping was fun. It was a little difficult and time consuming but still fun. We finally completed it after 3 class period of drawing, coloring, writing, and cutting. Our film i thought was fun for me because i got to do the sound effects so look us up on the viddler web site.

I have played and beat many games in my time. I never really though of creating them until this past year. As i played the games on wiki i started thinking of possible game ideas. My group and I have come up with a good idea and are currently working on it. We just finished the paper prototyping.

Thinking of my game with Halo Souls

Our game is about a scientist who is captured by a mad scientist and forced to make potions for him. Once he leaves you make potions to break, melt, or explode the locks on the door to get out. But, you have to look for clues around the room. You have to get the order in witch the ingredients go into the potion if u mess up it won't work. You also have a time limit. It depends on what lvl of difficulty your at. There are three lvls noob, scientist, and genius. Each lvl gets harder. This game is recommended for anyone in the high school age lvl

Social Issues

The social issues games were ones basically about issues that have caused countries trouble in the past such as hurricanes, farming, and over eating. For the most part i agree with the games except they could have picked better issues to makes games about. But they were fun games and if i had to rate them from 1 to 10 i would give them about a 7 because even though there are better one games to write about they were still fun games.

i have learned about different kinds of games. i dont play a lot of games except RPG and shooter. so i guess i dont really like the other types. but, its fun to play them its just not my thing.

Ok the basics of gaming are no paying attention to anything but the game, second drink lots of monster energy and mt. dew, eat some type of lays product or chips of any kind, and the final most important is when u playing DON'T STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
